I have a question about Stop
Pop-Up Spam Messages:
How do you find the services.msc in windows xp? I'm not quite sure how to find it
. I would really love to disable the pop up feature.
thanks for your time

CHanele, go into the Administrative control panel and opne the "Services" folder.
Look for the Windows Messaging entry. Double click on it and click on "Stop" then
change the start up type to Disabled.
This does not stop pop up ads that you see when using Internet Explorer. The messaging
system is not a mjaor concern for most users. Pop up ads can be controlled with a
program such as "Popper Stopper" which are free, or you can purchase a full vesion.

Taking the battery out of the smoke alarm quiets the annoying hi-pitched squeal but
does not address the problem of the fire.
The Messenger Service on your computer is responding to spam being sent thru unprotected
ports on your computer. Turning off the Messenger Service does not plug the holes.
Install a good firewall (Sygate, Zone Alarm) or at the very least turn on the Internet
Connection Firewall (ICF) that came with XP. If you have SP1 applied, the settings
for ICF have been modified to block the ports used to access the Messenger Service.
