When I try to open certain files my computer displays a blue screen and then demands me to restart it. On the screen it says INVALID_PROCSESS_DETACH_ATEMPT Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing xxx STOP: 0x00000006 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x000000000, 0x000000000) Problem is, I have no idea how to disable BIOS options or what this string of numbers means. Can someone tell me whats going on?

Keep your thread together - use the reply to feature rather than new post.
Do you know how to enter the BIOS setup? If not what kind of computer do you have?

Yes, I know how to enter the BIOS options although I'm not sure what I am doing. Any advice would be helpful.

Hi: When I was installing Verizon DSL modern, in my Dell PC, XP, got this msg: unmountable_Boot_Volume, check make sure any hardware/software is properly installed. Disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing. Verizon says their modern is compactible with MS XP. Please could you help me to solve the problem? Is this a mayor problem? I will be able to do it by myself? Thank you Elvira

Hi Elvira. You have posted to a very old thread here and it would be better to start a new thread for your unique problem. My first impression is that your problem may not be related to the installation of the modem at all - just a coincidence, but may be due to a failure of the hard disk or some other hardware problem. If anything has been disturbed inside your PC, make sure that all cables etc are properly seated and then try rebooting again. Cheers. Spexx.
