Start>Run> type services.msc scroll down till you find Messenger right click , select Disable.... all there is to it....

Howbout Programs>Administrative Tools>Component Services.........?? ;)

Sure , no problem Do exactly like this Goto Start / Run and type in services.msc Press Enter. Now find messenger in the long list. :) and do as the main post says.
