im struggling to find this serivice option at the very start of this process
can anyone help me please??

Start>Run> type services.msc
scroll down till you find Messenger
right click , select Disable....
all there is to it....

Sure , no problem
Do exactly like this
Goto Start / Run and type in services.msc
Press Enter. Now find messenger in the long list. :) and do as the main post says.
