Question about 'Getting Network Neighborhood to recognize newly attached computers'

I have set up a wireless network using SMC 54G products. Right now I only have 2 computers on the network. One is a desktop that is connected to the SMC Wireless Router and the DSL modem. The other is a laptop with a SMC Wreless bus card. The desktop runs Windows XP Professional, and the Laptop runs Windows XP Home. I can access the internet from both computers. I don't see either computer in "Network Neighborhood" and I can't see either computer from the other one. I would appreciate any help to correct this problem. Thanks in advance.

You know, I have the same problem with mine. The only thing neighborhood network
has done for me is helped me add another computer to the network I can't see. What
are you trying to do that you need to see the other computers?? I'll see if I can
help you find a way around it.

Ken, what I would like to do is be able to copy files between computers and open files on other computers without copying them. At some time I want to add another computer and a printer to the network so I can print from any computer on the network.

If you haven't done so already, make sure the firewall is turned off. (network connection, properties, advanced).

I'm having the same problem with a very similar set up (home desktop has Home XP, work laptop has Pro XP -- connected via a router. both can access internet but I can't get home desktop to be seen on the new workgroup.) XP firewall is disabled and third party firewall is configured to allow network. Have tried all the commonly found troubleshotting and problem fixes. More help? Ben
