Question about 'Top reasons for random, fatal crashes in Windows XP and Windows 2000'

I have a question about Top
reasons for random, fatal crashes in Windows XP and Windows 2000:
Running Windows XP Pro on a Athalon 750mhz (ancient I know!) - my system always seems
to crash when I hotsync my palm pilot. Seems like a common problem. Funny thing,
is that now my digital camera crashes the system too whenever I upload pics directly
from the camera (never used to do that). I tried reinstalling programs and removing/reinstalling
the USB controllers through the Device Manager to no avail. I Any solutions that
anybody knows would be appreciated.
I have 4 USB Ports - (1) USB Root Hub & (2) VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host
Controller
I also have a HP photosmart 7550 printer connected that works fine.
Thanks!

SP1 adds refinements for USB1 and support for USB2, might be worth a look.
Checked your mobo vendor for a BIOS update lately?
Checked the Palm website for an update to the hotsync software (Handspring units
are up to 4.01 on the hotsync software)?

With respect to the effect of Palm hotsync, I believe that it is not limited to USB
connections. I have an older serial port and just discovered that the reason for
the failures I have been experiencing are due to the serial hotsync.

Hey,
On further exam, seems to be a conflict with my HP Printer - when I unplug my printer
from the USB, it solves the problem with the Palm Pilot hotsync crash. I'm using
a different setup for the digital camera so don't know if it is that or not.
Also tried some of the suggestions to date to no avail. But thanks for the good ideas.
Cheers!
