Do you have a smaller menu delay and your icons need ages to load? No need to give up. Just refresh the icon cache by deleting the IconCache.db file from your profile directory (usually /Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Application Data). It will be automatically recreated. So first of all, you have to increase the size of XP's icon cache. You do this by navigating with regedit to: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer In the right hand pane, double click on MaxCachedIcons and set it to a larger value like 4096. Close regedit. Now you must refresh the desktop, for instance by the icon size trick (32->33->32) mentioned earlier in this thread. And that should give you a desktop with good icons!
