Question about 'Things that slow down system bootup'

I have a question about Things
that slow down system bootup: I'm using XP Pro and it's very slow when started,
but i know the reason, it's because of the Norton Internet Security and Antivirus
that I use. the problem is that naturally I can't disable these two applications.
So what do you suggest I do, in order to start my windows quicker but still keep
these two application to run on start-up.
thanks

What are the system specs?
Sounds like it's trying to launch them but is running into a bottleneck of some kind
my first suspect is RAM
Do you have at least 256megs of RAM? Assuming you do
BlackViper.com will
help
but if you're running XP on less than 256 it will be slow regardless

id think about using windows own Firewall (removes the need for your external one
having to load at start up) load it by right clicking your network interface of network
connections and find firewall (i think in advanced) and start it up, it starts with
all ports locked down.
And possibly getting a less memory hungry antivirus product like sophos www.sophos.com
Or else upgrade your machine with Sata 150 drives and faster cpu and memory.
Otherwise defrag your hd, get another 256 meg of ram i use 1024 and found that anything
less just is not enough for me.
and see about tidying up your machine so you have less loading
finally if you hate waiting for windows to boot.....dont turn it off! :P
