make account invisible

Hey guys as you know the Administrator account has an invisible login screen since I have multiple laptops on Win98 that need access to my computer with XP I needed to add usernames (computernames). Now my logon is bursting with logon names that I really don't use....Is there anyway around this (making the usernames not visible just as the administrator account isn't)?

This is an easy one. Go to Control Panel, User Accounts. Then, click on Change The
Way Users Log On. Select Classic Logon. This removes the fast user switching as well,
but this way you only have one user name showing, namely the last one who logged
on.

Thanx Michael, it's better like that, just the nifty welcomescreen is gone; I don't suppose you know why the Admin account is invisible? any registry hacks so I can make a more selective approach?

There's one that makes the user name itself disappear, so you have to type it in
the same as you do the password. Unfortunately, I don't have the time now to look
it up (boss says I have to get to work. This is my personal computer, but I have
to leave in mere moments.). As far as the admin account being invisible, that is
what passes for Microsoft security. To my knowledge, none of the earlier NT OSes
does this.

The reason it is hidden is to protect it from tampering
That account is intended for fixing problems not everyday activates
It is the only account that the recovery consol will accept and it only appears in safe mode on XP home
In XP pro you can get it on the logon screen but I don’t know why you would want to

The latest version of TweakUI for XP SP1 has the capability under Logon to selectively
show user accounts on the Welcome Screen. Just check/uncheck the boxes next to the
usernames to show/not show 'em on the Welcome Screen.

dear Adam, thanx for the reply; it's just the other way around; I have 5 logonaccounts, 4 of which are due to the fact that my other win98 computers can't connect to XP otherwise. To have them on the welcomescreen serves no purpose and I want to make them as invisible as the administrators account....any idea? greetings, Alex
