can anybody offer some help with my cdrom problem. I have looked at other fixes like the reg key fix but no help. I installed XP off the cdrom and it was working, then out of nowhere it wont read a disk, Windows sees it and says its fine. The cdrw still works fine tho. The cdrom is 2nd master and the cdrw is slave. i have tried different different drives, i have 2 identical dives. I uninstalled them reinstalled them nothing has worked so far, Please help if you can.

Consider the possibility that it just broke.

It might be just that simple.

Put it in another computer to test.

Tried that already, i have a few cdroms. this one is a 56x, i happen to have two identical 56x cdroms and both of them are good, but it just stopped working, the burner will work, but not the cdrom. I have uninstalled them, and the ide controller. I have changed cable. I have Deleted the reg key Upperfilters, i didnt have lowerfilters.
