No Driver for Nvidia PCI System Management

I have a question about What
do I do with "unknown" devices in Device Manager?:
I've been having terrible problems trying to get my Epson CX5200 all-in-one printer
to SCAN. In the troubleshooting process, I discovered an unknown device in device
manager called "SM Bus Controller". I uninstalled this device, and scanned for new
hardware to get device manager to recognize whatever it is...it turns out the SM
Bus Controller was my NVIDIA Pci System Management controller, which evidently controls
USB ports...and is probably why my all-in-one-printer is not being recognized properly
in device manager. Anyways, now this NVIDIA PCI controller says it has no driver.
When I try to install a driver by auto searching, I get a message that there is
no better driver than the one already installed! I've even tried uninstalling my
NVIDIA device drivers, and reinstalling them...no go. Can anyone help me????

When you say"not properly recognized"...is there a yellow exclamation point showing
in Device Man.?

Sometimes the multifunction printer/scanner shows up under "Other devices" as an
Epson scanner, with a yellow question mark and an exclamation mark. More usually,
though it shows as "Epson Stylus CX5200" under unknown devices, with no question
mark or exclamation point. I understand that when working properly it should be
listed as an "Imaging Device".

I have tried going to the NVIDIA drivers site, but I'm not sure WHAT driver I need
for the thing, or how to install it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling something
called "NVIDIA Device Drivers", using Windows' Add/Remove Hardware, then my NVIDIA
original CD. If I can provide any more specs, let me know what you need. Thanks
in advance for any help you might be able to give me, triplate!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Epson drivers several times with no luck.
Epson tech support tells me the printer and its drivers are 100% XP compatible.
I have even downloaded a driver from the website, the same thing happens. That
is why I'm guessing this might be a conflict with the PCI Bus controller...I did
manage to make a small step last night. I downloaded the 2.45, newest Nvidia "unified"
driver package and installed it in Safe Mode. That seemed to make the Nvidia PCI
controller show up as working, and using resources. (Before it would say "This device
is not using any resources because there is a problem with it." But on the main
properties page, it still says there is no driver installed for the device, and my
scanner isn't working yet......I'm getting bummed!
