Solution for 'Stop Windows from Randomly Searching the Floppy Drive'

I have a solution for Stop
Windows from Randomly Searching the Floppy Drive:
It is definitely the Indexing Service! I tried everything in this and other forums,
but XP kept accessing my floppy drive, whether or not a disc was inserted.
That is, until I stopped and disabled the Indexing Service. Then it went away. When
I restarted the indexing service, XP began accessing the floppy again.

Change your BIOS to boot from the C: drive first and it won't look for a boot floppy
again 'til your hard drive dies.

It's a mystery... When I got my laptop, I removed the hidden DELL partition, formatted
the HD, and installed XP on a 100% empty system. Boot seq is CD, HD, with floppy
all the way at the bottom of the list. The computer has never ever seen a floppy
disk. But the floppy drive grinds as soon as the desktop loads and has been doing
so since BEFORE I installed any other software. So something in XP must be looking
for a floppy. But what could it be?

I got the same problem.
XP which is trying to access the floppy.
Nowdays the Office XP is trying to access the floppy.
I have killed "Index-service", I have no *.pif or *.lnk in my recentlist, etc etc,
It could be that the registry contains some "search-path" for the A:...
