Need Help removing interstitial ad delivery
Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 5:40 pm Posted by John J

I have a question about removing these from XP.
Interstitial ad
Pad Look ups by n-case
I go to start, control panel, Add / remove, find these 2 programs and when I click
REMOVE, the pop up opens and closes so fast that I can't fully remove it.
Please help! Pop ups all over the place!!

Open the registry (click 'Start', choose 'Run' and enter 'regedit'), find the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, right-click the
entry 'msbb' inside it, and click 'Delete'.
To delete nCase/Alert, also check for a randomly-named entry three or more letters
long, pointing to a .EXE of the same name in the Windows folder. Delete this entry
and the file it points to. Alternatively, wait for the next restart and it should
prompt to you reinstall or remove itself.
Restart the computer and you should be able to delete the 'nCase' folder inside Program
Files. In older versions without an 'nCase' folder, look in the System folder (inside
the Windows folder; called 'System32' under Windows NT, 2000 and XP, or just 'System'
on Windows 95, 98 and Me), and delete msbb.exe.
To clean up, you can also delete the registry keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\nCASE,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\msbb and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\180solutions.
To delete nCase/Inst, if you have the nCase/Inst variant, open the Downloaded Program
Files folder inside the Windows folder, right-click the 'nCaseInstaller Class' entry
and choose 'Remove'......there ya be.

Hi,
I recently noticed that interstital ad delivery has appeared within my add/remove
programs. I dont want to uninstall it because I am not 100% sure what it is and does.
I have clicked on change/remove button, but a pop up message appears saying you must
be connected the the internet to complete uninstallation, which I am, and when clicking
ok, it simply returns to the add/remove programs. Please could someone tel me what
it is, so I can delete it, please!

re: Need Help removing interstitial - new info

I got this devil via a clever, full-sized browser window with all blue background,
claiming that my anti-virus software found a new virus and offer it to remove it.
A reminder to all of us how social engineering might creep into OK buttons.. I was
not paying attention to the fact that my anti-virus software has DIFFERENT dialog
box warning of viris.
The 'free software' people behind the http://www.n-case.com/ncaseuninstall.html project
should also be aware of the basic fact that free software do not install trojans
on computers, just as guns don't kill people: we people do. Free software is the
most vulnerable to inventive maggots who don't care how they make their daily bread.
I learned yet another lesson about being very careful about clikcing OK buttons.
You should be too, because in my case I have no legal case. I was a dummy not thinking
before clicking and thus 'signing' a legal contract.
In any case this got a better sence in me to renew my anti-virus software subscription,
and upgrade it to a complete internet protection solution. I am an avid supporter
of free software, yet I don't mind paying for service or software when there is a
need with EFFECTIVE solution. Think and feel any way you please about this, but know
that this devil is still on my comp but I never received another pop-up again.
Which means that I've got my money's worth. Thanks.

Hi.
I followed all your instructions, deleted Interstitial Ad Delivery. Then I removed
the programs using the Add/Remove Programs tool, no problem. I then closed that window
and opened it again and hey presto ****** Interstitial Ad Delivery is back!!! The
programs are called:
Interstitial Ad Delivery by 180 Search Assisstant
PAD Lookups by 180 Search Assistant
How can it keep reinstalling itself when I have deleted it from the registry??
cheers

and you're going to trust them not to download a trojan virus all nicely giftwrapped
in a so-called uninstall exe? this is surely digital suicide?
i don't get how they make money of this - must be through adverts, but they must
do to pay for their website, - it can't be hard to set up a site like that to Joe
people like this - no wonder people end up turning to trash like aol, just so they
can have some peace of mind.
play with this instead:

I went to regedit and deleted as instructed. When I restarted the PC, I thought
I'd check to make sure the files were indeed gone.
Seconds after getting to the Registry Editor page, a box popped up WARNING! a 3rd
party had taken out nCASE which may cause some programs not to work. I was asked
if I wanted to reinstall nCase, or delete everything in which nCase may be involved
(or something like that).
Is it safe to choose delete the files in which nCASE may be necessary, or will it
really mess things up?

Sounds mightily complicated. Do you know if any spyware-scanning/stopping will do
the job? I'm not very good with computers and don't want to mess with the registry.
I could make it worse. Thanks in advance.
I have both Norton Antivirus and EZ antivirus on my computer. I have no idea how
it got through.

On a side note, if I had a gun and knew who wrote that malicious program, he'd have
been six feet under by now.
