I like to have certain icons in tile mode. Is there any way to keep xp from showing
the "shortcut" title
and file size vwhen the icon is for a shortcut and in tile view?

dHatton ...
you might try this: double-click "my computer" and move to an explorer window.
Click "view" then "choose details." At this point, you may tick or untick items
to have included in the folder view. You may also rearrange the relative positions
of the items you want included by using the up- and down- arrows.
For those folder(s) in which you prefer to have tiles, choose settings that will
NOT include size. Then again at view > choose "tile." When you are satisfied with
your choices, hold the alt key while clicking the "x" to close the window.
Hope this is helpful to you.

You made me look for a way, and I found it (!).
Go to Run, type: regedit
On the left, navigate to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
On the right, right click and choose New > String Value.
Name the new string: TileInfo
You have to restart explorer (log off and back on) for the change to take effect.
It will effect all users.

I'm not sure, but I think that TweakUI for WinXP has the option to turn the link
arrows/titles off. You can also try XSetup, I think it's made by XTeq. XSetup has
hundreds of tweaks for XP. I also still have TweakUI for Win98 and it still works
in XP, oddly enough. I hope that was helpful. I would be more specific, but I'm at
work and on a Mac, so I can't go in to any of the programs. :) Mekare

Thanks, your suggestion regarding TweakUI worked.
In the shortcut overlay section under "custom" there are several icons, one is blank...I
never noticed it before. I highlighted it and got the result I was looking for.
