Defeated the ''My Ebooks Folder''

I made a post yesterday afternoon asking how to remove the "My Ebooks" folder from
being re-created everytime Adobe Acrobat Reader starts. No one could provide a solution
other than simply hiding the folder. (Doesnt help me since I view hidden files) Anyway,
do the following and the folder should never appear again... 1. Browse to x:\Program
Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\plug_ins. 2. Delete the file Ebook.api 3. Finished.
I've tested it (duh) and it works perfectly.

HEY!
Thanks! Yes your fix does work. Now we need the "My Pictures", and the "My Music"
tweaks if anyone has them.
Thanks again...

Well, go to start/run and type regsvr32 /u mydocs.dll.
Now those f**ken My Document subfolders won't ever appear again when u delete them.
If you want to enable the feature for some sick reason just type:
regsvr32 mydocs.dll to enable it again.
ok good luck!!!!

unfortunately the trick doesn't work completely.
i just got this error message: " the 'ebook' plug-in has been removed. Please re-install
Acrobat to continue viewing the current file".
I think it depends on the file. Maybe acrobat 6 files need the damn plug-in.... grrrrr!!!!

You might now have the same version that I had at that time. On the older version
I used no error would come up. But on this one (the same one you have) an error does
come up. Kind of annoying, but better than having to delete the folder every time.

...right, but I forgot to say that I could not open the file at all! All I got was
the error message.
That was a problem... So I had to move back the plugin again, just to open the file.
Then I learned the file was protected with a certain 'Adobe DRM' protection and sent
to a web page... http://aractivate.adobe.com/
The web page to 'activate' certain ebook capabilites and read the file... They asked
me to sign in with my 'Microsoft .NET password'!!!! Can you believe this?! I felt
like I was
sorrounded...
What is worst, they had their point, and I lost! Once again I had to delete the folder!
:((
we have to strike back...

I think this is all quite clever. Question, though: What is the PURPOSE of the My
eBooks Folder in the first place? What the hell is it for? And, how can it be that
certain files, like video, for instance, can automatically be moved from a personally
created folder into the My eBooks folder?

I don't know the purpose of the "My eBooks" folder, and neither do the people at
Adobe.
I know a method that gets rid of the "My eBooks" folder and every other Acrobat annoyance,
including its ultra-slow startup due to its loading of a million plugins that nobody
ever uses.
My method always works. Guaranteed.
1) Open the add/remove programs control panel, highlight the Adobe Reader entry,
and click "remove."
2) Go to www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
and download Foxit PDF Reader.
3) Install Foxit, open a couple of PDFs, and ask yourself why you didn't flush Adobe
Reader down the toilet years ago.
