The manufacturer says there aren't drivers for the product that XP is supposed to just recognize the device. CD\DVD drive seems to work, but the flash card readers are recognized as un-known devices. Only once of my USB ports seem to work, so I am making the assumption that I need updated USB drivers for my motherboard, not drivers for the card readers. I have the new drive plugged into the USB port on the motherboard not an external port. How do I get this thing going? Also, how do I get my other USB ports to work? I'm now running XP service pack 2 but I had the problem both before and after the update. Problem, to clarify was as follows: List of six unknown devices in the USB section of device manager (numbers may vary) even though NO USB devices or external hubs were connected. Lastest nforce drivers did not fix. Uninstalling all USB devices from safe mode did not fix. I simply disconnected all the external USB ports, i.e. the front panel and rear panel USB ports, from the motherboard After I rebooted, the remaining ports were all discovered and worked perfectly. I've no need for all the ports as I used a hub but in another post I read, the author had reconected his external ports and they worked.
