I have a question about How do I show hidden files (such as MSDOS.SYS)?:

In all likelihood it's to prevent individual developers and users from creating their own effective applications. Big software firms would doubtless not be constrained the same way.

Same way as every other version of Windows since Win95. Try this: Start, Help, Show Hidden Files

Actually any "developer" that can't figure out how to display hidden files is incapable of developing anything.
