how can i change my hard drive back from a nfts to a fat32 file system so that i
can install win ME back on the hard drive after win xp format

You Can't without using third party disk formatting software (partition magic).
And chances are Win ME will throw it out when you try to re-install because you have
used this program to format the drive.
You can however re-install WinXP and format the drive as FAT32 as XP will run under
both formats...

a) Why Oh Why would you want to install WinME...?!
The worst MS incarnation ever...! LOL....
b) You can format the hard drive with a WinME or
Win98 boot disk , using FDISK , delete the Non-DOS
partition (the NTFS one) , then recreate a new
partition and format as usual...
c) You can use the WinXP disk to reformat the drive ,
and format it using FAT32 - this choice is available
using the XP disk as well...
