Why disable error reporting?

I have a question about Stop Windows XP from asking if you want to send a report to Microsoft whenever a program crashes:

Actually, I find it useful... I did get some advice from Microsoft after sending error report which helped me to fix the problem!

You must be one of the lucky ones to get advice from MS. Never heard of anyone ever
getting any advice through their error reporting. If you like it keep it enabled.
I think it is a big waste!!

Sorry, but as it wasn't e-mail I have no record of it. It appeared in a error message like window a few minutes after sending the error report. The message said it's a response to the error report (and stated the number of tthe error) ,it contained information about my modem being the reason for the crashes of IE and suggested I get a different driver. The link for the driver download was provided. I downloaded it and IE seems OK, and my connection is even faster now! (still using good old dial-up...) I haven't got much knowledge about computers so it really was helpful. Regards

I also received a fix tip with this feature. It appeared seconds after the error report was sent. It advised me to download a particular critical update. Also, if you stop and think about it, even if you only rarely receive a bug fix, is it really an "annoyance" that this feature closes down the app and restarts it for you?? (Even if you choose "Don't Send"??) After all, the alternative is that your app just crashes. (Maybe even requiring a reboot - who knows?)

because i develop software and while debugging and testing, many of my apps (i hate to say) have a tendancy to crash. a lot, actually. sending them an error report is a waste of time. even if i didn't make software, it's still a waste of time as well as annoying. not to mension that i'm still stuck on dial-up and dont feel like connecting to the internet just to do so. i'd rather just let my app (or any, for that matter) die in peace.
