Sony Vaio w/ Geforce 4 - Just keeps on freezing!!!

Its so frustrating. The other day, I walk into my room and my sister is playing the Sims while toggling back and forth to her silly web sites, and it seems everytime she uses it, something goes wrong. Every time I needed to restore from a previous restore point because she somehow managed to get a Lycos Sidebar installed (never does really go away, just icon off the desktop) and something called Second Thought, that always comes along with TONS of pop up ads. That may be beside the point. The real point is, NOW, some icons on the desktop are discolored (purples and greens, looks like its run in safe mode), grey and black bars appear out of nowhere, like video related problems, then if I run more than 3 or 4 programs, or not careful when logging onto the internet, the bastard FREEZES on me. 1 out of 10 times I get it to work for a few hours. I've tried almost everything, restored to before Xmas, even getting a newest driver for my Nvidia Geforce 4 Mx 420 card. When I installed that, that made it WORSE. The screen started flickering like crazy and then soon just rebooted itself. I miraculously restored again, back to square one, dont know how I managed that. It keeps saying the errors occur due to a serious error in the Geforce card. Maybe she's broken? I'm running a sony vaio (win xp home), with 2ghz and like 400 somethin RAM, so theres plenty of resources. Something is wrong, very wrong... Any ideas?? Please email me at magmus83@yahoo.com. Could it be a virus, or just need a new vid card?
