PLease help me if you know networking

I am on a new computer and immediately after installing XP I renamed the main user from 'Owner' to another name. While when I boot I do see this new name as the main user, and do not see the name 'Owner' anywhere, in every other aspect the name 'Owner' is still here! On the network, this is the user of this computer; in the windows directory it uses the name 'Owner' to store all things relating to the new name I gave it (ie. in the 'documents and settings' directory there is still a directory with the name 'Owner' and there is NO directory with the new name that I gave it.) If you have any clue as to what the problem may be, or better yet if you have a solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Your situation has nothing to do with networking, it's just one of the quirks of
XP.

This MS KB has some info you'll find useful:

Logon
Name Does Not Match Name in Task Manager or Under Documents and Settings Folder

If you want the D&S folder and Task Manager to reflect the new name, you'll have
to make a new account with the name you want, copy the user profile of the Owner
account to the new account, then delete the existing Owner account.

Here's how to do that:

How
to Copy User Data to a New User Profile
