windowsxp almost 3 gig in size

windowsxp almost 3 gig in size

after doing a clean install of windows xp pro i noticed how much it took up in space
on my hard drive just about 3 gig over 2 folders
my main query is i have a windows folder at just over a gig and a winnt folder at
1.8 gig is this right as it seems a bit to large

winnt is almost always windows 2000,although some oems have been known to use it
instead of windows. so you have two os on and not one.why dont you actually repartition
and only install xp.

i havent installed win 2000 on the machine only winxp pro
and after first use the actual size started of at just about 2 gig which i think
is strange

After installing, then rebooting my installs have all been
around 1.6 gigs.

You should not have a WinNT folder and a Windows folder, that strongly implies that
you did not do a clean install.

yes 1.6 is about the same as me is that the normal size for xp
but it is the winnt folder that is a concern at 1.8 gig and growing
should i just format and redo the h/d and do a clean install

If I reinstall, I first Delete the partition, create a new partition, then format,
and install. That way I know
the old Data on the Partition is gone.
