I have a question about How
do I turn off the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as my default image viewer?:
The question is: Why the heck do they keep this description WHEN IT DOESN'T WORK!!!
I still keep getting the shitty viewer even after i've done what they suggest...

You might direct your question to the webmaster. Nobody down here makes decisions
on things like this. Seems like it ought to work anyway. I didn't have any trouble
turning of Fax Viewer etc.

It's odd.. apparently it does work for some people. I wonder if Microsoft heard about
this and changed way it worked in some security patches (to prevent people from changing
it)

Are you using home or prof version?
I tried searching the registry and changing all references to BMP to BMX instead.
Next day "something" (windows probably) had created all new BMP entries and we were
back to square one...

Window scans its registry every startup and fixes what they feel are critical flaws.
System extensions are mostly not permitted to be changed.

I hate microsoft! Grrr..
Do you know one CAN change these things? Do I have to hex edit the registry files
when the OS is running?
Sigh, i wish i could go back to win98...
