Computer shuts down, recovering from ''serious error''

I read through some old posts here on this site, and I'm not sure any really helped
me.

I have been having a problem lately where when I'm online, sometimes my computer
shuts down by itself, then when it restarts, it says something about the system recovering
from a serious error.

Does anyone know anything about this? I have read about the latest viruses and trojan
horses, and can't find any that seem to cause the problems I'm having. Of course,
one could spend a lifetime reading the descriptions of every virus, worm, trojan
horse, etc. thats out there these days. (How sad is that?!?).

If anyone else has had this problem, or is having this problem, please let me know.
I welcome emails as well as replies on the forum. My email address is: samspepper@aol.com
. Just put in the subject something about a response to my post about my computer
shutting down... I've been VERY wary about opening emails!

Thank you very much,

Marissa

don't think this will help your problem, but if you don't want more trojans, don't post yer e-mail address on sites like this. get cw shedder when you can, run system tools, virus, spyware software.

What edition of WXP are you using? Home or Pro?

Have a look at the eventviewer and see what it reports (start/control panel/perform
& maint/admin tools/event viewer
It may be something as simple as vid card throwing a wobbley.

Hi. Thanks for the tips. I did just that, and this is what came up for the most recent
"errors" under System in the Event Viewer:

"The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error:
The attempted operation is not supported for the type of object referenced."

A few days ago, apparently there was another system error that says:

"Error code 000000be, parameter1 f95a275d, parameter2 03d66121, parameter3 8053bc4c,
parameter4 0000000a."

Under Applications there was an AOL error where the computer could not identify the
"faulty module." Here there are also several "Application Hang" errors.

Finally, under Security there have been quite a few "Failure Audits."

I hope that helps you to help me! (lol) Thanks again!
