Hi all, just got a call from a mate and he has found something called "CoolWWWSearch" on his system. He's tried adaware and spybot to remove it, but to no avail. Any offers on how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance René

I'm having problems with this CoolWWWSearch too, it appeared out of nowhere and I'm equipped with firewall, anti-spy, anti-virus ect...and yet, it still got in.

I have the latest Ad-Aware, SpyBot Search & Destory and that CWShredder too - and still nothing will remove it.

Any help would be really great - these damn popups are getting on my nerves!

Actually I already use the Google Toolbar, but it doesn't seem to ever work :( Of course, I have the settings right but still - it's useless.

I also use Mozilla too, but still the pop-ups appear but in Internet Explorer, when I'm not even using IE at that current time.

These pop-ups wouldn't be so bad if they were just little text/graphic ads but they're the type that installs further crap into my computer...arrgh!!

Lol Any other suggestions? Thanks ;)

Open your registry editor and search for msmc. Removing all registry keys containing this string will disable coolwwwsearch and allow you to delete the msedpd.exe program in the system folder. Ad Aware or Spybot S&D will find and remove the entries, but they will come back every time you restart.

I also cannot get rid of coolwebsearch. Spybot, and Ad-aware find it, and remove it, but it comes back. I looked for both items you noted (file in system folder & registry entries) but I do not find either? Any further thoughts?

I have the exact same problem with my daughters laptop. Adaware and others find the things, and say they are deleted, but when I scan a second time, they are all back again. HELP!!!!
