Common Hijacker

I have Spybot software on my computer and I run it frequently, but I keep running into the same problem. There is a common hijacker on my homepage and I can't seem to get rid of it, even when it's been "fixed" by Spybot. Ideas?

Try this.......http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html Download hijackthis. Also check out the windows files on this site. Some hijackers replace windows files. Heres another great site for info and a good thread for the same problem...http://computercops.biz/postt15740.html Heres a search for hijack...http://computercops.biz/forum67.html I wish the bastards that do these things would get the snot sued out of them. The trouble and time wasted to keep these people out of our computers...just gets worse and worse

Download, install, UPDATE, and run:
    Ad-Aware 6.0
    Spybot Search & Destroy
    SpywareGuard
(Make sure to use the update feature of these programs often.)

Download and install:
Google Toolbar & activate the pop-up
blocker.

Download UPDATE and run:
    CWShredder

Before running these, do the following:

Delete temp internet files and history.

Turn off system Restore.

When finished,
Turn system Restore back on.

Hi mojo, I've hestitated to say anything, but I thought you might want to check this out. Mike Healan had an article on the subject in one of the newsletters last year. Google's toolbar is spyware: SpywareInfo forum - 88769

Seems like a bad link. It doesn't come up in IE or Firefox.

I'm sorry, I had to sign off. That's strange that you have a problem with the links. That's the article I was referring to, but the link is to a thread on the forum. Btw, that news article is from Mar. a year ago. These links were included in the post: "Just scroll down to #6" http://www.google-watch.org/bigbro.html http://google-watch.org/ Plus, a recommendation to use "Free Surfer" instead of Google toolbar.

I know, and it's a shame. I really should have said something before. Although, that was posted last Oct. and I just recently came across it. I was afraid I'd step on some toes, but I decided that's better than letting you go on, not only using, but recommending a spyware toolbar in your cleanup posts. Sadly ironic. :( Btw, I wonder what the M$ toolbar will be?? lol Have you seen the real scary deal about Google email? I read an article on that, and it's terrible what things may be coming to. From Yahoo news: Groups Slam Google's New E-Mail Service P.S. I still don't get why that link doesn't work for you. There's nothing special about it. Keep up the good work, mojo!

I'll take the Google Toolbar off my future posts. I was not aware of that.

I don't think I will be running to get the Gmail!! Sounds like a mess!

Thanks for the info!!

You're welcome, That Gmail is scary alright, and many people will go for it too. It's such a shame; too many good guys are joining the bad guys, and it's all about $$!
