Question about 'Stop Windows XP from creating the My Pictures folder'

I have been combating this problem forever! What I have done in the past
was create a stupid batch script that Scheduled Tasks initiates several times per
hour that would "behind my back" delete those useless "My..." folders. Today, I
came across your clever fix about creating another file with the same name as the
directory — >duh!< — never crossed my mind! So I tried it. After about an
hour, my POS XP box renamed it to My Pictures.000 and had the nerve to re-create
the dreaded My Pictures and My Music folders again!
(I have XP Home instead of Pro...maybe that's why?)

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
Value Name: NoStartMenuMyMusic
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = remove folder)...same applies for MY Music....

This 'hint' appears to be incomplete.

I can't make sense of this reply. Is the first key (ending in "System") supposed
to be blank? Is that what is meant?
And I'm presumably supposed to create the second key if it does not exist? In that
case, should it not be StartMenuMyPictures (rather than ..MyMusic)?
I for one don't like to be guessing when I'm fiddling with the registry. This 'hint'
should be corrected or deleted.

yah i don't think it's only incomplete..
but it's answering to a different question, just not the problem at hand..
although i too have the same problem on how to disable windows from automatically
creating these folders,
but the registry solution mentioned here only solves HIDING
the My Music and My Pictures links from the Start Menu > Documents menu,
and not REMOVING them from the My Documents folder..

Hey dude,
why delete the folders?? If u ain't using it, just change their location...thats
what i did.
Change the location of the My Music or My Pictures Folders
In Windows 2000, Microsoft added the ability to right-click the My Documents folder
and choose a new location for that folder in the shell. With Windows XP, Microsoft
has elevated the My Music and My Pictures folders to the same "special shell folder"
status of My Documents, but they never added a similar (and simple) method for changing
those folder's locations. However, it is actually pretty easy to change the location
of these folders, using the following method.
Open a My Computer window and navigate to the location where you'd like My Music
(or My Pictures) to reside. Then, open the My Documents folder in a different window.
Drag the My Music (or My Pictures) folder to the other window, and Windows XP will
update all of the references to that folder to the new location, including the Start
menu.
