CWS Trojan

I just found out I have a CWS trojan virus Coolwebsearch trojan. It somehow got
past my Norton anti virus. It will not allow me to start my shedder or Hijackthis.
Can't seem to get rid of it. I have read that there is over 2 dozen variants of
this virus and it attacks the registry. It also disabled my Task manager and I can't
get it enabled. I'm going crazy here. Please help! Many thanks. Mickey

Download, install, UPDATE, and run:
    Ad-Aware 6.0
    Spybot Search & Destroy
    SpywareGuard
    Spyware Blaster
(Make sure to use the update feature of these programs often.)

Download UPDATE and run:
    CWShredder

It is important to run ALL of these programs, as each do something different.

Before running these, do the following:

Delete temp internet files and history.

Disable system Restore.

When finished,
Turn system Restore back on.

It also wouldn't be a bad idea to run an online virus scan in addition to Norton.

An online scanner is available at:
    Trend Micro or
    Panda or
    McAfee or
    Symantec

I'm afraid with Stinger, that people will download it today, and still be trying
to use it with the same dats 3 years from now. For example, any version of Stinger
before yesterday will not detect the Sasser worm. The online scans are generally
updated as the defs come out.

The server seems to be down in Mojo's link. You can download the CWShredder on the bottom of this page, and run it. This will completely take care of it: CoolWebSearch Chronicles Run the CWShredder.exe file. Close all browser windows and press FIX to scan and clean. Reboot and run the Shredder again. Keep it in a folder, so you have it. Check for Updates frequently using the update feature within the Shredder and replace the previous download.

Don't get me wrong, Stinger is great, but the problem is that you have to keep downloading
it to keep it current.
