I have a question about Stop Windows from Wildly Accessing your Hard Disk:

My laptop running XP spontaneously starts grinding the hard drive. I think I figured it out - it's automatically running defrag. How do I stop it from doing this? Thanks, Sam.

Look in scheduled tasks. Programs, Accessories, System tools.

Are you sure that isn't some 3rd party software designed to defrag automatically. http://www.tweakhound.com/xp/tasks/sch_defrag.htm
