I am trying to connect an xp home laptop to a 98 laptop for file transfering purposes using a crossover cable. I am sure everything is set up right, and i can see the 98 pc in the xp's network places. But when i click on the computers name(win98) it says i dont have access to the share. I don't believe that i have set any restrictions, i have given the shared folder full access without a password. I even enabled netbios to see if that would work. Is there something i could be forgetting to do? I also disabled all firewalls. Help appreciated.

Try logging onto 98 with a (non-blank) password. You may have to create a user in
the Users control panel.

<----Have you tried looking in "Networking" in the left pane of this page? Lots of good info there. Here are a couple other pages to check out: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/ http://computer.howstuffworks.com/home-network.htm http://www.homenethelp.com/ http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking.htm
