I have a ze5500 pavilion hp laptop, and i formatted clean, removing all traces of
hp, but now, i cannot get my wireless link to work.... i have searched for drivers,
done everything i can think of, but alas, no joy, and i need this thing up and running,
i believe it to be a 802.11b wireless network... any help would be greatly appreciated

I would say you identified yor problem here:
" removing all traces of hp..."
It's an HP laptop, requiring HP specific drivers, that's what you bought in to. You
can't simply declare that it is no longer an HP.

Ricer is right, when you removed all traces of HP you also removed the drivers you
needed. Laptops tend to require their mfr's drivers for everything on them, and in
your case the only place to get that is HP.
