Question about 'Change the icon for Internet Shortcuts'

I have a question about Change the icon for Internet Shortcuts:

After installing Mozilla on my system at work in attempt to reduce my security/malware exposure I tried to change all Internet Explorer file type associations to Mozilla. When I attempt to change the Internet Shortcut file type as described in this article I run into the following problems: 1) When I find "Internet Shortcuts" in the Registered file types list its current extension is listed as (NONE). 2) There is no "Edit" button available. 3) There is a "Change" button but it is greyed out and unresponsive. 4) There is an "Advanced" button available, but when I click on it, nothing happens. Is there any way to change the association for this filetype? Does it matter if I don't change it (remember, I'm trying to cause Mozilla to start up whenever an internet doc/link is invoked) ? Thanks for any help you can offer.

The internet shortcut item you described is near the top of the list, yes?
Scroll down the list and find a second internet shortcut item near the end of the
list (alpabetically arranged) with the URL extension.

But I don't know if what you are doing, or that Win Ann Org article, will do what
you want to do re. Mozilla. You said: "....I'm trying to cause Mozilla to start
up whenever an internet doc/link is invoked."
Have you set Mozilla to be your default browser?
