Blue screen at start up after installing SP2

i am getting a Blue screen at start up that is saying:

STOP: C0000135 {Unable to Locate Component} This application has failed to start because winsrv was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Does any on know if this is just a problem with the installation of SP2 or just a problem with SP2 in general? And is there a fix for it?

SP2 is turning out to be quite a problematic update. Anyhow try this:

Boot your computer off of your Windows XP cd. Go into the repair option. When you get to the command prompt type C:\chkdsk /r This will run the Checkdisk Repair Utility. Finish it out then reboot. I have heard this will fix the problem.

You might want to try slipstreaming. http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

The problem was solved by the inserting my WinXP disc. I didn't try slipstreaming.

Thanks All

I performed the 'chkdsk /r' command as well, but after I rebooted, I still get the same error msg as when I started. I am unclear as to what is going on. Any further tip is appreciated. --hd
