Question about 'Enabling or Disabling Automatic Windows Update'

I have a question about Enabling
or Disabling Automatic Windows Update:
After following the previous instructions to disable Auto updates, I still think
it is activating.
I disabled it during an update but the update didn't stop, so I then disabled the
service itself but it still didn't stop. I located the process (svchost.exe) and
killed it. The download only then stopped. Now everytime I restart the computer,
it starts again.
I'm sure that this is the update process. Is there anything else I can do? e.g. change
a registry setting?
Thanks,
Tony

If you run services.msc you can set the automatic update service startup option to
disabled, rather than automatic.
