Question about 'Clear Unwanted Entries from Explorer's New Menu'

When I try this, the registry entries reappear after a few seconds and the commands are restored to the context menu. Weird! Have any idea why this happens, and what I can do about it?

Sorry for the delay... (This is what happens when we fall behind in email!)

As far as I can tell, I was referring to this Annoyances.Org article:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article05-011

When I followed its advice (editing the Registry to remove unneeded commands from
the Windows context menu's "New..." submenu), the entries kept returning. It must've
been some XP registry-protection thing.

Since then, I've found I can effectively manage the "New..." menu by installing Microsoft's
free TweakUI utility (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/tweakui). Its "Templates"
page lets you unselect any of the "new file" types you don't need.

Cheers, Ander
