cd "c:\Program Files\"
, for example. TAB can be useful.

Thanks for replying, but when using the syntax you have given I recieve the reply
"Parameter format not correct". Also please excuse my ignorance but what do yo mean
by TAB?

First, make sure you're using backslash ('\'), not forwardslash ('/'). Second, you
can auto-complete folder names with the TAB key.

......Again thanks for the reply. It is true that I am prone to making errors so
asking if I typed your response correctly was a fair question but suprisingly I did
type it with ('\'). I need to get to my j2sdk1.4.2_07 directory. I want to start
using my Java. Help?..........

Are you getting the command prompt by running command or cmd?
