I have a question about Have
Windows Power Down Your Computer Automatically:
I Found this :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\PowerDownAfterShutdown
Change value from 0 to 1 If the key doesn't exist create it!
What i need to do is turn off this feather because my HDD light is still flashing
when windows shutsdown my computer and i think its causing some startup problems
Per another article i read . I dont have this value ( \PowerDownAfterShutdown ) In
my Reg an not sure how to creat it.
Any help would be great . THANKS

Windows Powers Down My Computer

In Windows XP Home, my computer turns the power off after shutdown, but I don't want
it to.
PowerdownAfterShutdown=0
There is no HKLM\Software\.......\Winlogon\Shutdown section in the registry. Is this
the problem?

did anybody find any solution for this problem?
I have got the same problem. I want to force the computer myself to power-off the
computer.
As there are components connected to the computer as display and a "CCD"-camera,
it is recommended to get the dialog "You can now switch off the computer!".
Before this I had a computer with Win2K installed and APM controlled, I didn´t get
any problems, but by now: Computer with FJS-Board (ACPI-controlled) and XP-Home installed,
it´s ridiculous...
So, if you´ve found a workaround I would breathe a sigh of relief if anybody can
help..

This seems to only work if you don't have SP1 or SP2. You can create a shortcut
to shutdown your computer with the "shutdown" command. Just right click somewhere
on the desktop, New-->Shortcut. Then type "shutdown -s -t 0" without the quotes.
(That is a zero not an O.) Then click Next and click Finish. When you want to shutdown
use this shortcut otherwise it will powerdown if you don't. I'm not sure but I've
heard if you have SP1 or SP2 you can disable APS in the Power Options control panel
applet and it won't powerdown the computer.
