Can't get Recovery Console to Load

I have had the misfortune of receiving the error message regarding the isapnp.sys being corrupt. I have read several of the threads on this site and attempted to follow the advice given. But my main problem is that the "Recovery Console" won't load from the WindowsXP CD. It acts as though everything is going well and then along with the message "Starting Windows" comes that dreaded blue screen of death that gives the "STOP:0x0000006f, etc.) screen. I have even tried a work around only to be greeted by another message which states that there is some type of "cyclical redundancy error" - Now I am stuck. I spent a full day working on this but with no success. What am I missing? I would be so greatful if someone would be able to steer me in the right direction. Thanks, Richard

Sounds like your hard drive might be in trouble. Download diagnostic utility from
drive manufacturer's website (they nearly all have one - usually creates a bootable
flopy to un from) & check out the drive (utility usually has some repair features
too).

CRC errors result when a drive has problems reading data from a storage medium. That could be the HD or the CD. Assuming the diagnostic tests on your hard drive come back clean, remaining options are (1) CD is damaged physically (2) CDROM is failling.
