Question about 'Change the icon for Internet Shortcuts'

I have a question about Change
the icon for Internet Shortcuts:
I get to the directions where it says open explorer (is that the internet explorer
folder in the my computer folder?) and select folder options from the view menu.
I don't have "folder options" in the view menu, only 'customize this folder' which
only allows me to change the internet explored folder, not the desktop icon. I have
Windows XP personal edition. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

If this is the icons for your favorites then I believe it should say go to tools
then folder options. Once that window opens up click on the 'file types' tab and
select from the list (mine would be htm or html). Then click advance and the change
icon button.

Explorer (in this case) is what you use to browse your computer...not the internet.
It is usually called Windows Explorer.
A quick way to open it is right-click on your START button and choose Explore.

This hack did what I wanted it to do (got rid of the little IE icon from my favorites,
and I replaced it with a Firefox bookmark icon) but now any internet shortcut I try
to give a custom icon won't work.
Is there any way I can customize an internet shortcut icon, and keep this hack too?

The "folder options" is under "Tools" and NOT under "View" as stated above. I hope
this helps.
