Weird beep beep?

Hey everyone, I hope some lovely person could help me figure something out~ A couple weeks ago, my computer started doing this weird beeping thing. It'll beep randomly, and whenever it does, it freezes the cursor. I have absolutely no clue whatsoever of what it may be. I tried numerous different virus scanners to see if it was a virus, but they all came up with nothing. I checked to see which programs are currently running, and they're all normal.. programs that have been running on my computer ever since I got it. So I really don't know where this beeping came from! If it's any help, I've recorded the beep noise: http://tsubaddicted.net/weirdbeep.mp3 I have no clue what it is, but it's driving me absolutely insane! If someone could help me out in solving how to stop this highly annoying beeping, I would love you forever! Thanks a million in advance~ Natalie.

Open the control panel and select sounds...all events with a sound associated will
have a speaker icon beside it..one at a time click on the listings and preview the
sound until you find a match..that'll show you whats doing it.

That's the sound of a printer or other USB port device shutting off then starting up again. Mine makes that sound whenever I start/shutdown the printer or my camera. Sometimes there is a several minute lag. What do you have hooked up?

Ohhhh, so that's what it is! Actually, I've recently been getting a pop-up from my taskbar about "incorrent USB port" or something? I can't remember what it says exactly. I have a scanner and mouse that are always hooked up to the USB ports in the back of my tower, then I have a digital camera that I hook up to the front USB ports when I want to upload pictures. Is the computer thinking that something's still plugged in? I'm not really sure why it's doing it all of a sudden 'cause the beeping only started recently, but I've been uploading pictures for a few months.
