Inet Attacks

Having expended a considerable amount of time trying to build a bastian of invincibility
in terms of security I then decided to road test my system in the most treacherous
of waters - the chat room.

I, for better or worse, can usually precipitate events and on this night after some
careful precipitation I was invaded with endless chat boxes and 'BUZZ' bongs (in
the style of Yahoo Pager).

It seemed my system failed the test.

How can some person unleash such an attack on my system when I have a multi-layered
protection from system infestation?

Sript kiddies? Depends on how well you have your "security" system set up. eg. did you buy a firewall and install it and leave it on default settnigs? Have you blocked ports that you don't use or allow access by mnual command only? Hardwre firewalls available? Does your ISP have support / firewalls in place to assist as well? on and on the list goes...it seems no matter hoe much one would try to protect from forced entry etc. there is also a hole...backdoor programs etc. who knows? md
