I have a question about How 
do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?:

i did as follows. system properties>>advanced tab>>performance>>settings>>checked use drop shadow for icon labels on the desktop. it did not work on my laptop. it worked on my desktop but not on my laptop. i am going out of my wits trying to figure out what is wrong. pls help. i am using windows xp. i am using my own wallpaper and the background colour is blue therefore the fonts are white with a blue background on my wallpaper and it looks seriously disgusting. pls help. :( thank you.
