XP OPERATING SYSTEM
Doesn't work on my XP Pro. I had to create a shortcut to the file 'devmgmt.msc' in
C:\Windows\System32 to open Device Manager.
If I press Win+Pause/Break I just get the System Properties.

Right. I thought it was too obvious that then you click on Hardware and Device Manager,
so I didn't mention it; however, I should.

Give Mac a break...you said "go directly to" , not "do this and then click on something
else". AFAIK, there is no KB shortcut to go directly to Device Manager.
(And I really wish there was...if someone knows of such a thing, please post it.)
cheers

Hi, To make a shortcut to device manager right click on desktop, hit new, then shortcut.
In the location box that comes up type in "devmgmt.msc" (no quotes), hit next. Clear
the next box that comes up and type in Device Manager for the name of the shortcut.
Hit finish. If you would like to add it to your start menu just right click on the
desktop shortcut and hit "Pin to Start menu" and you should be off and running.

It's really very simple. First, like Mac said, create a shortcut using devmgmt.msc.
Then, in the properties of that shortcut, add a shortcut key (which is actually Ctrl+Del+key)

Unfortunately... there is not direct keyboard shortcut unless you create it yourself.
But here are a couple of links you might find helpful. The next time you want information
about Keyboard short-cuts in XP:

It's easy my friend, you can use batch file to do this job for you, create a command
line and save it as device manager.bat put it on desktop or quick launch and then
easily you double click it or assign any hotkey with it so you easily get it. ;-)
Regards.
