Running Windows XP Pro The computer is an HP Compaq d220mt. Sometimes, seemingly at random, it will free while at the login screen. When the machine is rebooted, it will display this error: "Boot Failure: Insert diskette in A: press any key to continue". If the machine is left off for a period of time, it will again boot back to windows and function normally (that is... till this happens again). Any ideas as to what could be causing this to happen?

Sounds like your hard drive is dying. As a precaution, I would immediately back up all your critical files.

You can run a HD diagnostic test on the drive, just check the manufacturer's website for such a utility.
