PPP connection unstable...

[Sorry if this doesn't really concern Windows XP] OK, I am currently using Verizon Online DSL. My connection keeps disconnecting for like 10 seconds, then comes back online. I checked my router to see if anything is unplugged, but everything is plugged in and good. Everyday, i get over 150 disconnects. This is REALLY annoying. Can somebody help me?

When did issue start? and after doing what?
What have you done to ensure Malware is not an issue?
I assume there is at least 1 other box connected to router...does it have same issue?
Have you updated router Firmware?
Auto reconnect enabled on router?

You do mean PPPoE right? Not an actual PPP connection? Never heard of PPP used for
anything other then dialup and mainly through Linux so probably.

Also make sure router is set to use Dynamic PPPoE protocol not Dynamic IP

I would take a phone and using the same wires use to plug in the modem, connect the phone and check it for line noise and disconnects. Any noise would be a problem.

DSL uses a lot more current than normal phone usage, so any loose wire connections will cause overheating and drop outs. Check all of the phone wire connectors all the way back out to the outside connection box for loose connections.

Have you called Verizon? They should be able to help or at least eliminate some things.
