network not networking

I have a windows XP laptop and a Windows 2000 workstation! They can ping each other no problem. Which ever boot up first can see the other one in the network control panel, while the second to boot can't. When I get XP to show the 2000 workstation it will tell me I don't have permission to access it. The 2000 is shared and I have had this setup working in the past! HELP please

Networking anything with w2k is a bother. From my experiance the issue might be solved
by:
Turning off firewalls to test
Setting up guest account on both, same ID/Password to test
Make sure file and print sharing is installed on both
Something shared on both
Disabling/enabling simple file sharing on Xp
Messing around with security/group access/permissons in gerenal

Or other suggestions found here

Or some other stupid setting that is causing you to lose your mind ;) Google is always
the ultimate reference.
