Question about 'Change the icon for Internet Shortcuts'

I have a question about icons changing to IE
My icons are not Preferences>browse selected, they are Google, Mapquest, Urban Legends
etc....who provide their own icons. Without any action from me they switch to blue
IE! Yikes. If I restart 10 x a day, they will come back but, I want them to be left
alone!
In easy detail...what can I do??? Thank you

I had the same problem a couple of months ago - rectified it (I don't remember how
- took ages to find on the net) and yesterday all the yahoo, google etc icons ('favicons'
I learnt the last time) that I have on the Links and task bars (the colours and design
makes them easier to see) have reverted back to the blue e which is annoying and
boring to look at as well. thanks

I wish you luck in resolving this one. I too am greatly annoyed by this and consider
it an unwelcome and childish intrusion by MS. If you find out please forward the
solution to me. Ever greatful.

What worked for me is setting a shortcut to the browser, then adding the URL to the
command line:
Right-click desktop, select "New", "Shortcut."
Browse to your browser's exe file. Then, in the location box, type a space and put
in your URL. For example: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" http://www.annoyances.org
- Finish the shortcut wizard, then right-click your link's icon, select Properties,
and change the icon.
