My XP Home system will not load my CD Sound Blaster Live 5.1. I get SBL's flash screen, but it disappears quickly. I have Tried Add/Remove Programs, direct Autoplay load; with no luck. Who can tell me what to try, to get Sound Blaster Live to load ? Please Help !!!

Joe's List
Falcon's cleanup

Download the latest drivers from the Creative web site. Uninstall the current driver, reboot and let windows "rediscover" the sound card. When asked, use the "Have disk" path and point it to the new driver you downloaded.

Repair install WinXP Clean install WinXP

It's probably because the new versions of SBLive cards don't use the EMU10K1 chip,
so you need the newer drivers.

Forumembers! You people are the greatest of all time! Annoyances is the greatest!! Oh, I own the Book! BUT, I am still the dummy! = I do not always state my case CLEARLY! ..i.e.: I originally had Win98SE and installed SoundBlasterLive 5.1. Everything was everything; kule...Then I Upgraded to XPHome, and alas, discovered SoundBlasterLive did not function too well: (flashboxes indicated file corruption blurbs, "could not locate", ad nauseum) So, I UNinstalled MOST of what I could locate of SoundBlasterLive, [mistake!] and tried to do a "clean" re-install. BUT this is where my glitch appeared. The SoundBlaster CD would NOT install, despite other AddPrograms CDs functioning just fine! I tried the XP, Add and Remove, AutoPlay; tried dragging open CDRW files to nearby temp(ad hoc) tree-folders, but Nothing would allow the durned SoundBlaster CD to install. I really goofed up, didn't I? ...This Preview reads more betterer. I am much too hasty with werdz, and don't talk goodly mostly, but I try to get it acrost. "Communication is the burden of the speaker" -JF Kennedy. ps: Originally, by "load," I actually meant "clean install." I will try pretty much anything suggested that appears appropriate. I am so grateful and duly impressed at how prompt, concise and on point are the 'Noinces responses come alive! Thank you all muchly; verily...Good Humor... I remain, Lame, but in yer debt, all y'all, at My favorite website! ANNOYANCES.... Bobby
