I have a question about How do I turn off the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as my default image viewer?:

I have tried solution 1 and 2. When I go to Folder Options and try to change the program used to open tif files to Internet Explorer, it will not let me apply the change. What else can I do?

Internet Explorer isn't the best choice for an image viewer, anyway. It may not even
support that extension, but I don't know for sure.

The most popular and freeware image viewer is Irfanview. Be sure to download the
plug-ins for it, too, if you use it. I don't have the link on hand, but Google will
get you there in short order! :-)
