Firefox..Try Maxthon

uh what
or IE2 as it used to be called. It seems that Firefox is loved. Well guys, this
is the most complete browser I have yet to find. Enables right click on those pesky
sites, excellent plug-ins. Enables saving flash...it's good and it's IE based, so
it feels almost the same, except for the tabbed browsing, which I think Vista is
implementing. Anyone have known issues with Maxthon? I really like it. Should
I be shivering in my boots about spyware?

if its IE based its just another Swiss-Cheese-like Browser using Active-X,which Firefox
does not.Thats why Firefox is so much safer.

uh what
ok, then...i'll turn off Active-x. problem solved.. good terminology..I like that
swiss cheese thing..doesn't firefox have vulnerabilities now too? My thinking is..if
you're online, you're not safe..and that's it....doesn't matter which browser..someone
will find a way to exploit it. Only way to be safe is to stop smoking, drinking,
and run 2 miles under 12mins 54 secs, and then try not to get shot. I got the NIS,
Windows Anti-lactose, and Spybot S&D with TeaTimer. Anymore programs protecting
me would require heavy duty armor protection from a HMMWV. Thanks for your comments.
But, I really enjoy the tabbed windows and right click.

Yeah. It uses Mozilla's Gecko engine, not "MSHTML.DLL" (a.k.a. "Microsoft HTML Engine
DLL/ActiveX control for Win32 and MSIE"). And it is the best browser I've ever used!

What happened to Netscape? It is now a shell for MSIE! All the people who used IE
will use the IE engine for Netscape because they don't understand engines! Firefox,
fortunately, uses the Gecko engine. And Firefox is the coolest browser for Win32(95+/NT4.0+)
and Linux! MSIE 7.0 will NOT be as good! Never!

"I like that swiss cheese thing" ok, and yes, ff does, but guess what, if
or when one or some are found, they put out a new version, plugged, and not an itty
bitty patch, look dude, if you like it, ok, fine, pushing it here is your right,
just the thing is, it is a browser like IE, but not like IE, but still has more vulnerabilities
where as ff does not have, cest la vie...you like swiss cheese, then ok....im sure
the scumware code writers like your kind of thinking, as it keeps them in business
and not to mention, people like me to whom get a lot of money on the side cleaning
up computers....rock on, and thank you for making it a better Christmas for my wife

ok good..just tell me that you've tried maxthon..and then I'll assume you're not
brainwashed into Firefox...like others with IE. I tried Firefox...but it just didn't
fit well with what I need. I won't get into a pee match with you bud, just wanted
to spread the joy of what I feel is a superior browser. I agree to disagree with
you.

Maxthon is an Internet Explorer based web browser that adds a lot of new features
as well as a fresh new look to your standard Internet Explorer browser interface.
Among the added features are a tabbed interface that allows you to quickly switch
between multiple web pages and create groups of pages that you can launch with a
single click. In addition, it offers several privacy features like cookie and history
cleanup as well as an option to delete the typed address bar URLs (either all or
only selected). There are many other features, most of them small, but very handy.
For example, it offers a RSS sidebar, supports URL aliases and keyboard shortcuts,
quick proxy switching, auto-scrolling, network speed display as well as content filtering
and a popup window killer. Maxthon supports plug-ins (some come included).

Proxy set up. Mouse gesturing. Flash get. Right click enabling. SMS to any cell
phone free. Use Gecko Engine. Ctrl+ to zoom the browser. I can right click swipe
left to go back. I am writing this in Maxthon using Gecko Engine. Where can I send
the check for you to clean up my computer? Obviously I'm out of my mind using this
crazy browser..and can still stay connected to the internet. Searches all major search
engines at one time for software/pics/general/mp3's/coding/news/filemirrors.

Nope, he's not advertising...you are. You don't like FF, nobody here gives a rip.
Your only reason for posting was to push, advertise Maxthon.
No, it's going to be a non-profit orgranization. Why don't you get all the facts
together, so you know what you're talking about. You're clueless and short-sighted.

you nailed me Carol. Sorry for posting anything against all the FF lovers here.
Again please forgive me for giving my opinion...when someone calls my favorite
browser crap I'm not backing down. Punto y fin. I never placed a link to maxthon,
in contrast, others against my opinion posted links to download the software whilst
posting user reviews. I'm giving good factual information about my favorite browser..You
should open your mind a little and consider my point of view. You push your stuff
and forbid someone else give a different opinion. I did my best not to "push" but
when everyone here seems hung on software that will sell out in the near future,
I must respond in the posts to try to make my point that my favorite software is
not bad.

Frank Hecker, director of policy for the Mozilla Foundation, said the for-profit
arm will give the project more options. Already, Google Inc. pays Mozilla an unspecified
amount to ship Firefox with a version of Google's search engine as the default home
page.
In the future, the project could consider letting other companies hire its employees
to develop new features, Hecker said. There are no plans, though, to offer paid technical
support services.
Non-profit! I don't want Google in my stuff...I want google if I choose! Google
is the next Microsoft. Wanna bet google comes out with Operating Systems using the
Firefox browser. Then there'll be the Googley Annoyances Forum.

The point isn't whether you're for or against FF. The point is you dropped in and
started this discussion about your 'favorite' browser. What were you expecting, a
warm welcome and friendly chat?
I'm sure others are aware it exists, so what's the point? These kind of discussions
only start arguments and conflicts. You had no good reason for posting, unless that's
what you wanted was to get something going.

I wasn't trying to get something going, although I had a dream last night that I
got into a political argument at work..maybe this is it. I found many constituents
that had never heard of it and figured it was worth sharing here. Lesson learned
though.

The thing is, any browser that's based on IE is no better/safer than IE. That's our
main reason for telling users about FF. Hijackings would be a thing of the past.
Security experts recommend FF more than any other alternative, so there must be some
reason for it.

I have Maxthon installed on my system, but after putting it through its paces as
my exclusive browser for a couple months, I now use it only for those web sites that
require IE to view. Even though Maxthon has added features that mitigate the IE drawbacks
some, it's still using IE as its rendering engine, which means it is vulnerable to
the viruses, trojans, and other hacks that use the IE weaknesses to exploit your
system.
I use Mozilla as my primary browser (I used to use Firefox and Thunderbird, but discovered
that I used fewer resources opening one program than opening two), and so I do not
have the vulnerabilities that any browser using the IE rendering engine has. That
alone makes any browser using the Mozilla core superior to any browser using the
IE core, even if you don't take into account the open source, collaborative development,
and active community supporting Mozilla and its associated projects.
