MMC Error message

(7 messages posted)
Hi All,
I have problem accessing "device manager" or "Windows services". I get error message
type: MMC requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed. I couldn't get
informations about this error messge on the web or on microsoft knowledge base.
Anyone has encounter this problem before?
I believe that it has to be something to do with IE. Now my IE properties doesn't
show that i m using IEv6. Rather it is showing the version as: .xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519.
Someone pls help. Thanks.

Mozilla Firefox: The TRUE
web browser for Windows/WinNT, MacOS and Linux!
Oh, this is the last time I post instructions for that issue.
Go to Start
Menu, Run, type C:\WINDOWS\INF, click OK. Locate the file IE.INF (not IE.PNF).
Right-click on it, and click on the "Install" command in the popup menu.

Allow me to join the appreciation and offer profound accolades. It does work! Had
same problem for weeks and no one could offer anything beyond: "you have got a virus"
or "reinstall your XP". (my machine is clean; and clean reinstalling XP feels ehmm
uhmm ugh a challenge)

IE setup fix
Original thread:
the fix is an original Falcon's idea. However, it is only a user-friendly procedure,
and does the same things my RegSvr32 procedure (not fully explained) does, but on-the-fly.

Would I need to do this to correct a problem I am having with my cursor when using
Internet Explorer? When I go into the Internet, I am unable to "lock" my cursor
in any search field on any internet page. When I left click the mouse in the field,
nothing happens. But if this is a fix, when I follow these instruction, I don't
have an IE.INF file found. Any help please?????

followed suggestion. After "install" inf. asked for Win XP Service Pack 2 disk. Inserted
and then asked for ii386 on disk. It did not load because the file could not be found.
What now? thanks
